  • What is Hot Nozzle Summer?
Hot Nozzle Summer (HNS) is a movement within the high-power amateur rocketry community that seeks to break down the barriers that exist within the hobby, in order to make rocketry more accessible to new people, regardless of their rocketry or engineering skill level. HNS celebrates all aspects of amateur rocketry, whether it's getting an official high-power certification through NAR or Tripoli, or just shooting model rockets in the backyard with your kids this summer. HNS was born in a digital supernova on Twitter - beginning as a joke, but quickly spreading like wildfire
  • How was it formed?
What originally began as a joke quickly gained traction on the digital supernova of Twitter and led to the creation of the first ever “Hot Nozzle Summer” event. Amateur rocketeers from different backgrounds and experience levels gathered together in the desert with the common goal of launching rockets and having fun. From this emerged the idea of creating an established organization with the goal of creating a space in which rocketry can be accessible to everyone.
  • How do I join?
Hot Nozzle Society doesn’t have formal membership, if you’re into rockets and dedicated to sharing that love - you’re in!
  • What do you do?
Each year, the Hot Nozzle Society hosts a launch event for anyone to attend. At the event, we provide opportunities for rocketeers to launch rockets, get rocketry certifications, or both! We also provide a welcoming environment to network, make friends, and have fun.
  • How do I get into rocketry?
We can help with that! You can actually start today! Many local hobby stores sell model rocketry kits that will help you learn some of the basics about how rockets work. You can also purchase them online. Once you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can move up to high powered rockets, which requires a certification. There are 3 levels of certification for high powered rocketry through NAR and Tripoli. Soon, HNS will be providing a Level 1 certification kit and guide that you can purchase to get started. If you’d like some reading material to stir your appetite, you can start by reading our HPR (High Powered Rocketry) guide! Click HPR guide above!
  • How do I find a club near me?
The NAR and Tripoli both maintain online search tools. NAR Sections can be found here. Tripoli Prefectures can be found here. There is also a really cool Google Maps layer that lists a bunch of NAR Sections, Tripoli Prefectures, and other clubs and launch sites.
  • How do I volunteer?
We love having new people willing to help! If you would like to get involved in volunteering, or serving in some way, please contact us on the contact page on the website. We can promise that there’s plenty of work to be done in order to accomplish our goals. You can also support us financially by sponsoring or making a general donation! Volunteer or financial support are all welcome.
  • How do I donate?
Wow thank you so much! Easiest way is to click the donate button in the upper right hand corner of this page! If you would like to donate a larger sum, or become a sponsor please email us at contact@hotnozzlesociety.org!
